Make the standard legible before the first assignment.
Certification is the path from knowing how to clean to showing what “done” looks like. Hosts can see the standard up front; prospective cleaners can see exactly what must be demonstrated before a solo visit.
The path to a clean handoff
Four steps. One visible standard.
The sequence keeps training practical: learn the procedure, prove the outcome, then expand the kind of work you can confidently take on.
- 01
Read the handbook
Start with the six procedure modules. Each one turns a common cleaning failure into a plain-language standard you can rehearse before the job.
- 02
Demonstrate the criteria
Work through each module’s completion criteria until the outcome is visible, repeatable, and ready to be checked by a host or lead.
- 03
Complete the qualifying clean
Walk a first unsupervised clean against the 13-gate rubric, including the final walkthrough, photo handoff, and real-time escalation rules.
- 04
Earn specialty scope
Build into luxury-property handoffs and residential deep cleans by demonstrating the standards those jobs require.

6 modules to review
Every criterion is observable.
These are the six existing handbook modules. Their summaries and completion criteria stay linked to the handbook registry, so this overview cannot drift from the operating standard.
Module 01
5 criteriaHow a turnover differs from an in-stay refresh — what resets, what gets inspected, and what gets touched only when guest-flagged.
Completion criteria
- Every linen surface stripped and restocked to standard — no skipped items even if they look fine.
- Every high-touch surface wetted with disinfectant for the full contact time on the bottle (read the label).
- Consumable counts match the job card exactly.
- Photos uploaded before you exit the driveway.
- All exterior doors locked; lockbox/lock code matches the job card.
Module 02
6 criteriaRemove hard-water scale, soap scum, and mildew film — the three things residential maids miss that drive STR review complaints.
Completion criteria
- Glass shower doors are streak-free under bathroom lighting (run a finger across; no squeak, no grit).
- Chrome fixtures are not scratched — no pad marks, no swirl scratches.
- Grout lines are uniform color (no dark bloom) in primary bathroom at minimum.
- Descaler residue fully rinsed — no slick film under running water.
- Disinfectant contact time observed — no premature wipe.
- No descalers mixed with bleach or ammonia at any point.
Module 03
6 criteriaStainless, glass, and enamel — the three finishes guest reviews actually rate. Degrease, then polish. Then sanitize the touch surfaces.
Completion criteria
- No visible streaks along the stainless grain on fridge, dishwasher, hood, or microwave.
- Range hood underside and microwave interior free of grease film (rub with a clean cloth — no transfer).
- Cooktop is glass-clean (no residue, no polish film — a wetted cloth glides, does not stick).
- Every appliance tested working — dishwasher fills/drains, microwave heats, oven heats, fridge light on.
- Touch surfaces (handles, knobs, dispenser) sanitized last and dry.
- No scouring pad used on stainless or glass cooktop.
Module 04
6 criteriaVacuum first, spot-treat, then steam. The order avoids pushing stains deeper — and is the order most crews skip.
Completion criteria
- Pre-vacuum complete on every carpet lane (both directions).
- Every identified spot treated with the right chemistry (organic, oil, enzyme) and blotted — never rubbed.
- Steam clean: every lane covered twice (inject + extract), with 1/4 overlap.
- Edges and under-furniture areas treated separately.
- Dry time ≤ 2 hours; no standing water on guest arrival.
- Low-angle flashlight inspection passed on every carpeted room.
Module 05
5 criteriaDocument with photos the moment something looks off. Time-stamped evidence protects the host's deposit and prevents crew blame.
Completion criteria
- Every observed damage item has a photo-bundle of 3+ shots in the PristineFlip app.
- Every damage item is classified (cosmetic / wear / functional / safety).
- Safety issues isolated, host notified, and guest-routing considered BEFORE leaving the property.
- No damage repaired or rearranged before photographs.
- Host confirmation of receipt logged.
Module 06
6 criteriaWhen to text, when to call, who to escalate to, and how to log the conversation. The right message at the right time saves an entire job.
Completion criteria
- Composed templates used for the documented message types; no improvised messages.
- SMS used for routine updates; call only for safety / time-critical / unacknowledged messages.
- Every message starts with: crew name + property shortcode + time + issue.
- Real-time photo + report logging; no "I'll log it later" promises.
- Receipt confirmed both directions — your send acknowledged, host's send acknowledged.
- No messages about money, deposits, or reviews go out under the crew account.
A clear progression
Certification tiers
These milestones explain the progression for cleaners and hosts. They are presentation-only labels for the published program, not persisted account status or an auth/admin feature.
All six module criteria reviewed and understood before a cleaner is assigned work.
Every qualifying-clean gate passed, with the observable handoff evidence recorded against the rubric.

Review specialty standardsFor hosts and property teams
The point is a handoff you can trust.
Certification makes the expectations legible before a cleaner arrives: the marketplace workflow, the luxury-property handoff, the residential deep-clean standard, and the evidence behind a finished visit all live in the same training brief.
